I'LL FOLLOW MY OWN WAY
AND I'LL LIVE ON TO ANOTHER DAMN DAY
Darkness surrounded the trio, but the darkness was the least of their worries. Above them the sky was painted with dark clouds, allowing only a few rays of light from the full moon to illuminate their surrounding. It seemed as though a storm was rolling in, and after the hurricane that had rocked Cascaro last year, Clyde was a bit fearful of storms. He did not have a phobia of the thunder or fear getting rained on, rather the destruction that the storm left behind. The Zoo had taken plenty of damage, probably less than the structures around it, but even the little bit of damage it had sustained was enough. His thoughts drew to his family that he was leaving tonight. The mission was important, it was important that every dog know their way in and out of the sewers. So, with a few grumbles he walked with a ranger and his step son a guard, towards the nearest entrance to the sewers from Tine. At least the nearest entrance they would not break their legs entering.
Clyde kept quiet, he was sure that the two gentleman with him did not want to talk either. No one should be happy about exploring a sewer in the middle of the night, although he was certain that his reasons differed from the other two. He kept Angus in his peripheral vision, he knew that he did not need to keep an eye on the boy, but he felt protective. Angus was not really his son, but Clyde would treat him like he was just as he did Whiltierna. Blood did not make them family, something much greater did, and that was love.
His paws splashed into the body of water that had formed at the mouth of the tunnel, and then he jumped into the opening that the sewer created. Humans had long ago left Cascaro, so there was no water running out of the sewer, only a thin layer of grime lining it. It was a foul place, and not a place that Clyde wanted to spend his time. It was better for them to hurry and get their expedition over, so they could all go back to the Zoo. Clyde continued forward, not bothering to see if Angus or Deimos made it through the entrance, he was sure that they were physically capable to do so. Several feet into the sewer the path forked into two different directions. He turned back towards the two males, first looking at Angus and then Deimos. Deimos was the ranger, and exploration was his expertise, at least as far as ranks went. "Which way?" his voice was low, but it bounced off the metal walls surrounding them, and echoed into the darkness. His ears flickered back, but he continued to look at Deimos for an answer.
