Brighid's heart had turned warm the second that she had noticed the first signs. Her stomach was expanding, her food tastes were becoming rather peculiar, and she all around did not feel like herself. She had experienced this once before, of course, and knew how her body responded to pregnancy, and the only reason that it took her minutes to tell Clyde instead of seconds was because she did not want to engage in heavy running for the next few months.
There was not a single bad thing that she could think of about the next few months, of course. It meant that there was going to be literal new life added to the pack, which would in turn be reinvigorating. It meant that she and Clyde were finally going to have a family and that they no longer had to keep within the thoughts that they had for each other.
Most trivially, the timing had worked out so that they would be birthed in spring and have many happy moons of warmth before winter came to chill them to the bone. By then they would be nearly adults, and well prepared to take on the elements.
It was spring now that she and Clyde had decided to take a walk away from the zoo. The heavier she got, the harder it was for her to leave the zoo, but she was getting cabin fever with the nice weather and needed some sort of a break. Clyde, of course, had to come with her; it was wrong for the leader to go out so far by herself when there could be quite a bit of consequences attached. Besides, she wanted them to have another moment together, far away from the clamor of pack life.
After some wandering around the east, Brighid finally sat down in the midst of a courtyard and watched the new life beginning to poke through. She glanced at Clyde, waiting for him to sit down, and said nothing for the time being.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
