WITHOUT YOUR LOVE
WITHOUT YOU I DROWN, SOMEBODY SAVE ME I AM GOING DOWN
The Merle colored mutt hadn't been back to Kekoa in a couple of days, and the thought of it made her sick. The thought of being so far away, yet so close to her home was sickening. From the beach you could see the silhouette of the mansion in the dwindling light of day. She had been back several times since Calvins disappearance, but each time proved harder. Ceres would always expect to see him home, and when he wasn't the disappointment was unbearable. Those who knew how inseparable the two were always looked at Ceres with such pity, and should could not take their sorrowful looks any longer. She had started going out for days at a time, and dreaded her home. The dog who once hated feeling lonely, embraced the loneliness that swept through her each time she thought of Calvin. Whispers had told her that he had disappeared once before, and it was hard for Ceres to remain hopeful. What if this time he did not return? A sigh left her dark colored lips, she could not be optimistic about this subject any longer.
Averting her blue eyes from the mansions dark outline, she stood from the sand and began her trek up the beach. Perhaps tomorrow she would have the courage to face those disappointed faces once again, but this evening she did not. Cascaro was well into Summer, and it caused the Shepherd to pant heavily while she walked. They had not been blessed with rain in a few weeks, and all the natural water sources seemed to be drying out save for the ocean itself. Fresh water was normally hard to come by in the Summer months, but this was much different. The dry heat that they were experiencing was simply misery, and Ceres worried about how the pack was fairing in her absence. She jumped onto the wooden planks that made up the short boardwalk, a depressing stretch of buildings that were either boarded shut or had been broken into. Items were strewn around the place, and most items that would have held use were long gone. A few human articles of clothing laid on the planks, the wind would likely catch them and take them off into the distance.
The Shepherd turned to face the ocean, choosing not to enter one of the building that would give her shelter. All of them seemed to be radiating heat from the warm day they had been dealt. She sat back on her haunches content with watching the sun dip below the horizon line from the boardwalk. She might even sleep there, as long as she was alone.
