Ziva was to leave the city behind, for now, to favour its outskirts in a pursuit that would prove her worth. The female might not have anticipated that such effort would be staked on flowers, but it was what it was and she intended to deliver. Rayna would be the witness to her progress and would announce her success or failure. The little Collie led them into the mountains. The Dogo Argentino was unfamiliar with the route, though she didn't move with befitting hesitation. Ziva was well acquainted with perilous terrain and traveled it as such.
Her eyes observed ahead Rayna's path, as well, for anything that might endanger the black dog should she step wrong. Ziva very much doubted her physical prowess but not her intellect and so would act accordingly. Concentrating, the white dog remained mostly silent throughout the journey. If her companion talked, she listened. If the topic dragged on, she stopped. Bless the little dog, but she could ramble. Whatever direction of the path they took, Ziva ensured to keep her on the left. Her deaf side, so she could reserve her hearing for any suspicious sounds.
There was an expanse of stone ahead, with sparse bushes and jutting rocks along the gentle incline. There was a pungent smell, but faded. A scent marker, likely, to indicate that something had lived close but not whether it still did. "We are near?" Ziva asked, turning her head towards Rayna but her gaze was distracted. The Dogo felt exposed and didn't like the quiet that wrapped the mountainside. Like a ruse. It seemed like a good time for the Collie to take cover while Ziva carried out her test.
