I traveled in silence with my head low and my feet quiet. I didn't make stops to talk to anybody in Kekoa as I left the area, I didn't need the distraction. I wasn't a man to be late. I had a few standards in my life, a few rules I went by. Don't be damn well late to anything, help the young as they are innocent and if one betrays you kill him dead. They were simple to go by and I didn't stray from my rules for anybody, not even my closest friend. A rule was a rule and you followed it accordingly...unless it didn't benefit you.
I snickered quietly to myself as I walked through the warm mountain air. I had asked Ruckus to meet me at the fallen tree in the mountains, a place we had conversed a few times or more. It wasn't safe to exchange pleasantries within' Kekoa walls. We had to find the safest location and it was deep within' the wildest. I myself had no fear of the wildest as I knew it like the back of my paw and the animals that lurked within' were no more than a minor problem. I figured Ruckus felt the same, though he didn't have the same appreciation I had for it. We where two different, I was born in the wildest and it was in my blood to be able to navigate and manage the treacherous area. Ruckus was just a dog, though a rather skilled one, he lacked the many ancestors who lived in the wild and passed down their skills to my parents. I had tricks I had yet to even use or try, but in due time. I never doubted the brute though because he had many tricks himself, we just shared a different set of skills. You couldn't dislike someones who raised you when you lost your parents though. I would have been dead if it hadn't been for him.
With a sigh I approached the place of meeting quietly, I was early. That didn't matter to me though I sat down next to the fallen tree and let myself relax. I did a little too much relaxing though. I often found myself lazing around Kekoa taking up room even if I was spending time with the little bundles of skin Kekoa kept. If there was one thing I was good as it was dealing with children. I found them so amusing and innocent. You'd think someone such as myself would find no pleasure in looking after someones children, but I couldn't help myself. If anyone was going to steal children it certainly was me.
