I'M SINKING SLOWLY SO HURRY HOLD ME
YOUR HAND IS ALL I HAVE TO KEEP ME HANGING ON
She watched the water fall across the rocks. Gravity took hold and pulled the water from its perch on top of a small rock cliff and pulled it down into the lake which was fairly large. The trees hugged the edges of the lake, creating a hole in the forest. The sun was hidden behind some clouds, an overcast falling over the Southern side of Cascaro. Perhaps a thunderstorm was in their future, but Ceres could not bring herself to look away from the water. When she had returned after the hurricane, Calvin was no where to be found. He had been gone for 2 seasons now, and Ceres' heart was broken due to it. He was her best friend, and perhaps in the corners of her mind she had loved him. Everyone that she loved was slowly leaving her, they were slowly dying and leaving her to live by herself. First her mother, then Calvin, and she had to assume that her sister Pallas had left as well considering she had been gone for the same length of time. She could not get close to anyone, because everyone eventually left her.
Kekoa was starting to feel smothering, even though her beliefs were upheld there. There were too many things about Kekoa, reminding her that Calvin had left her. Normally, she would be too fearful to venture so far away from the pack that protected her. Now, here she was sitting aside a river in a forest that she had never been in. She was staring into the lake like it had all of her answers, and overhead the sky rumbled but she was deaf to it. She did not care about the rain, and she did not care who saw her here. She had nothing to lose.
A tear rolled down her cheek, leaving a black mark against her fur. Her blue eyes then filled with tears as if that one had opened the door for many. So many emotions filled her, but she could only feel hurt at this point. She lowered herself to lay on the grass next to the lake, her paws touching the surface of the water gently. Ceres had almost drowned in a water source on the other side of Cascaro during the hurricane. She had been looking for her sister, and had failed to find her. Looking back at that moment, she silently wished that Fox had not been there to save her. She wished that the water had filled her lungs, and had taken away the emotional pain that threatened to kill her.
She felt like the world was on her shoulders, and anyone that could have helped her was gone.
