Omegus moved with purpose through the new foliage, soft grass blades brushing his legs and the odor of growing things filling his nose. It was still early into the season and the gardens were yet in full bloom, but new buds dotted many a bush and flower stalk, promising a flurry of color in the coming days. Overhead the eagle soared low, a large gold figure against the stark blue sky, shadowing the traveling Collie. The Officer had missed his companionship; he had been too busy to venture much into the wilderness, and the eagle did not enjoy flying into the city what with its lack of prey. Soon, he thought in silent promise. If he could find the time for leisure.
Pushing by an impressive rose bush he stepped into a small clearing surrounded by dens shrubs, his eyes sweeping the area before he seated himself on the layer of dead leaves and grass cast off from the previous year. It was long overdo for him to meet with his task force, but he felt apprehensive. His meeting with Grimshaw was still fresh in his mind and he did not look forward to what was to come. But he had already made his decision and was keen to follow through with it. Whatever consequences came along with that decision, he would face in due time.
He followed the golden eagle's progress as it made a circuit overhead with barely a wing beat. The dog's ears flicked forward when the bird let out a shrill cry, having spotted something. Prey, perhaps. Or, hopefully, the arrival of Omegus' peers. It was too much to hope for that his own partner would show - Bukowsky had been missing in action for some time, and he could only guess at what might have happened to him.
