The rain pattered against the old walls of the boardwalk building, the wood starting to fall apart as the elements wore it away. Not that the building was in particularly bad shape, of course, compared to the others that frequented the area. It was simply out of its prime. The white mutt contemplated the inside of the wall with an uninterested face. He had been told to be at this location around this time and he had made sure to get here early. There were very few canines whose opinions mattered, and Tzafar was definitely counted among them. Early in his wanderings here he had realized she was a major player, and the kind that he liked. Clear definition of terms, an exchange with very little chance of getting gypped. Perfect.
At first he sat, but then the nervous energy took hold and he had to walk around. Better to be antsy beforehand than to show weakness during the meeting. Moriarty had nothing specific to ask for now, no real ambition to anything besides his own comfort. That didn't stop him from getting to know the movers and shakers. Even being a familiar face could bring him good things, and hell maybe he would need something later. It would be a good thing to already be known before asking for anything. It made things easier.
The husky sighed and went back to his seat. He had chosen in carefully, considered all the angles. He sat squarely in the middle of the back half of the room, away from the door. This position would look just as calculated as it was, and gave the Commandant plenty of space to do whatever it was that she did. He had heard rumors that she was a beast of a dog, massive to anyone but the wolfhounds and the mastiffs. Well, he would give her plenty of space regardless of her size. This meeting had to go well, even if it was just greetings and then departure. He was sure it would be more than that, since it seemed Tzafar didn't come down from her fortress for many things. The last thing he wanted to do was waste her time.
