WHY IS IT THAT YOU COULD ONLY SEE THE WORST IN ME
I SWEAR SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE IT NURTURES ME

Early on she had noticed the changes to her body — the stiffening of her sides, gently swelling just enough to notice against the formerly slim figure, and the feeling of unease when food was originally introduced.
Lark made herself scarce from her business in the city, knowing that it could wait in response to her current situation. She needed to keep what she had finally gotten safe at all costs, even if that meant completely going off the grid until the life within her was birthed.
Grimshaw was first on her list of dogs to know, dogs who needed to know. Already she was walking on borrowed time.
The black dog slid inside like a wraith directly for the dog’s “quarters”. This was where she had met him last time, this would be where she would meet him again but this time swollen with his progeny. He deserved to know what was to come. Should he request involvement in their litter she would happily oblige, however her aim was to keep them for herself.
After all this time she thought finally she might have broken free of the mistakes, of the heartbreak; the sparkling sunlight just outside of the arena told her no different. When she had woken that morning it had been a pleasant trip to the ringmaster without trepidation lingering in her stomach. It churned out of general malaise with her pregnancy rather than over nerves which she had ceased to have.
Excitedly, she meandered inside with her body electric. “It’s not like you to be holed away,” he was somewhere, she just had to find exactly where he had tucked himself into. “Such a spiffy shit-shining day.” Lark’s lips pulled back with just the slightest smile while she leaned further into the warming ray of sun that splashed across her back.
