The high waves of the beach would plummet just short to reach the tips of her paws. The wind buffeted her gently, Moirai closing her eyes.
It had been a long, cold winter. Moirai had grown stir crazy, aching to adventure outside of Kekoa. Atticus in particular had spoken with her, at length, over a task he wanted for the young girl. When she was just a child she had thought on it. Maturing into a young woman she had graciously accepted the offer, looking for a way to expand her horizons as well as gain more independence than she had previously held in earlier years.
Moirai found it vaguely difficult to leave the lavish home behind, if only for its protective walls sheltering her from anything outside of them. She knew, however, that to be sheltered her whole life she would ceaselessly wonder what was on the outside. It bordered on insanity to remain in Kekoa grounds for the entirety of her life.
She made her decision to leave at the start of spring, excited to begin her newest journey. It would be a long one, she supposed. Traveling the city would be a beautiful experience to last a lifetime. It showed her that the world, in all its finery, was no different than the pack she had called her home.
Pressing her toes further into the loamy feeling sand she leaned over to touch a soft looking wave with her nose. It felt cool to the touch, smelled of salt, and tasted quite like it smelled. Moirai padded further out into the ocean. After a visit to the docks from the boardwalk, the beach was the last frontier. She had wandered several miles up the northern coastline only to turn around to do the same southward. Her stamina was tested, as was her companion’s.
Lyall had informed her, under no uncertain terms, that she was going to be there with her — in both a friendship capacity and keeping her safe from harm. Moirai found comfort in the big wire haired girl. Beside her, Alex was a trusted companion to have along with her. It had taken her little time at all to place her trust in Alex once she realized that Lyall got on fairly well with him. The outsiders would be another story, she knew. The rusted girl looked toward Lyall with a smile under the bright midday sun. “This is the highlight right here,” she told her with the steady waving of her tail.
