(closed for East and @rebellion. Amanzi and Lyall are due for promotions! We're going to keep this thread to a minimum so they will both be promoted ASAP. Congratulations!)
Dusk was settling in, providing darkness for colder air to swoop in from the tiny cracks in windows. Caymus was solitary at the moment, walking up and down the rows of cells and checking the locking mechanisms for flaws. He threw himself against doors, wiggled locks, used his claws to try and pry them open; Caymus was determined to make sure the safety of his officer's was ensured by the prisoners confinement being ensured. It was mostly to pass time, having gone on a patrol from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. He had gone on a lone mission, scoping out the Asylum and checking to see if any dog had returned. It was meant to be quick and quiet, but instead he had ended up wandering about the downtown and checking for trouble.
The rest of the patrols from the afternoon were returning and the evening patrols would start out soon. They hadn't had new rookies in awhile and quite frankly, as long as the lead dogs were present for the patrols, he was momentarily not needed for much of anything. Caymus was both relieved and vexed, aware of the promotions he had scheduled for that night. He had been aware that Amanzi and Lyall were due for a promotion for awhile. They had both been faithful force members for some time and Caymus knew better than to let them go unnoticed. They were talented, intelligent, and quick-thinkers. He tried not to be biased, but part of him swelled at the idea of Lyall becoming an officer. She had blossomed in this type of environment. It was a shame her partner-in-crime had fallen so soon.
Caymus remained eerily silent as he jiggled at the last lock, gripping it with his teeth and twisting and shaking. He paused briefly to drop it and return to his office, aware that the two young ones would enter at any moment. It would be unprofessional to leave them there alone, and besides it was all he had to do for the evening. He couldn't afford to look scatterbrained after how he had left things running before. Caymus pushed away rueful grievances, moving swiftly to find his place behind his desk.
