WITH EIGHT SECONDS LEFT
IN OVERTIME SHE'S ON YOUR MIND
Was it really such a good idea? He should have insisted that she stay home, or insist that she go out with anyone other than him. However, he could not deal with the guilt that would eat his heart if he had allowed her to leave without him by her side. Clyde was becoming more and more attached to the female, and the feeling was a dangerous thing after the events that had transpired. The brute had been silent since that day, only responding to Brighid when she asked him a question, and not engaging in any idle chit chat. It wasn't an attempt to punish his leader, but rather him trying to pull himself from her. He was certain that she would not return his feelings, and then what? The awkwardness between them would be even more pronounced, and then she might even ask him to leave. How could you be flattered when a mongrel like Clyde tells you he is in love with you?
Pushing his feelings and his thoughts down he continued to trot along, not looking at his flank to see if Brighid was following but assuming that she was. The expedition was nothing more than to scout out the old quarry that was neighboring the mountains, in an attempt to locate the wolves. Hopefully, the two of them would be able to find their living habitat and then could call for a larger party to bring them in before engaging them. Sending a large party to seek them out first would have been waste of time if the wolves were not around this part of the mountain. Clyde idly wondered why there were so many canines against Tine. He had been in 2 fights for Tine, Katell had been attacked by wolves, the healer lost an eye, and they had barely reached a year. Was it some sort of omen or prediction of the future?
Clyde continued to walk, until he came across an elevator shaft. The shaft likely led down into the mines that were well below the two canines. The elevator itself did not work though, and exploring the mines would have been impossible. He lowered his nose to the ground and took a big breath in, the smell of pine and dirt lifting into his nostrils. He then lifted his head and turned his brown eyes in the direction of Brighid, "What now?"
