It was no use. It was done. As a result, Hazel was left powerless. She had lost much of her power long ago, but today it had been confirmed. There was nothing left in her. There was nothing left for her. The adolescent was left a shell of who she once was, robbed of those, and what, she loved.
All that was left was her body, a body that failed her. Those who remained were forced to witness her deterioration. She wished, for their sake, that she could be done with it. That she could be gone from their lives to end the suffering that she had imposed upon them. She felt no pity for herself, but for her family members. She pitied the look in their eyes they had when they looked upon her. She pretended, for their sake, that she did not notice. But she did; it was all she could see.
They were the reason she did not call for help. They were the reason she remained silent. She could not bear the thought of them finding her with her face in the mud, her body collapsed. She had dropped not fifty feet from the foot of the mansion. She had tried to make it to the garden, a foolish thought that was now laughable. She had at least had the sense to move with the manor’s landscape, and lay unseen under a wide expanse of shrubs. It had not been so bad, until it had started raining. Now, Hazel was soaked, her fur plastered to her body. She was a pathetic sight, and was grateful that the majority of Kekoa had flocked inside of the mansion, allowing her to remain unseen.
She closed her eyes and sighed audibly. As the rain fell, Hazel sunk deeper into the mud.
